“The Handweavers Guild of America, Inc.'s (HGA) takes place every Tuesday at 4 PM (ET). We've invited some of the most respected fiber artists in the field today to join us for an hour-long conversation where we discuss their artwork and their creative journey. Dani Ortman is a Canadian handweaver whose contemporary textiles embody simplicity and grace. Emerging as a professional textile artist in 2015, her work has been exhibited throughout Canada and the USA. Dani’s journey began in 2007, when she first learned to weave, work with plant dyes, and spin her own yarn. From 2012 to 2022, she served as Editor, Vice President, and President of the national Guild of Canadian Handweavers, passionately supporting her community. Now weaving in Vienna, Austria, Dani produces small collections of scarves and textiles 1–2 times per year. Her work invites others to experience the precious commodity of handwoven cloth, crafted from fine tussah silk, organic cotton, European linen, and Canadian wool.
